Walk the Block
Seeing neighborhood concerns firsthand so the office can better understand what residents and businesses are reporting.
Purpose
Some concerns are clearer when they are seen in person.
Walk the Block is a field-based effort focused on understanding neighborhood conditions firsthand. Instead of relying only on emails, calls, or secondhand descriptions, the District 9 office visits selected areas to observe what is happening, document visible concerns, and speak with nearby residents or businesses when possible.
These walkthroughs help the office understand context: where a concern is located, how often it appears to happen, who may be affected, and which partners or departments may need to be involved.

Process
Understanding how Walk the Block works
Our office reviews suggested locations, looks for patterns across reports, and uses walkthroughs to guide follow-up with departments, partners, or future community work.
